Infosys Training

Some info abt Training
1. Any Pre-joining Preparation?
This is the most important question of the day....u don’t need to be great at programmer when u joining as a Fresher. Guys don’t be in thoughts that u r going to be future hi fundu Programmer. the only time during which u do some serious programming is during training and u need not be skeptical if ur non comp sci as well.infy teaches every thing from basics. Now infy does not throw out anyone. It will keep on giving you chances to pass the test until you yourself run out of company in frustration, so don’t worry.
Infosys trainings is not very tough but u need to give some extra efforts. It is three-four months long. If you don't perform well in any of the exams, you'll be given a second chance, so, attend classes carefully. Forget that you are no more a student for three months. You'll get your whole life to enjoy with your first salary, second salary and so on. But no enjoyment for first Four months.
It doesn't matter where your background is CS or non-CS.Some people are from Construction, Mechanical, Civil, Printing, Chemical and different streams of Engineering. they got same exposure, same salary, same treatment, same knowledge. don't think a CS student would be in advantageous position. All are same
Generally our training will be broken up into 2 parts. the first part will be a generic program, which will give us basic take on comps in general during that they teach us abt networking, C , SQL and a few other very basic concepts.u have to give tests for individual modules which are online tests multi-choice no negative marking. all is from the course material popularly know as Champak u should be thorough with the course material thats all. At the ends of the genric program u have to write a comprehensive exam, which is in three parts. One 50% of marks which is similar to the online tests u would have taken but with -ve mkng, 20% for programming in C and querying in SQL, 30% written. After that u will be allotted to a specific stream.

But for CS people there is only one comprehensive program at the End of training.
as far as I know there r four possible streams u could go in
1. Internet Stream (java, oracle, servlets etc...)
2. Open stream (VB, oracle, UNIX shell scripting etc...)
3. Mainframes
4. ASP.NET
Our entire batch will be split up randomly after generic its a random allotment, not any performance based as they perceive all technology same. There is no incentive of doing well in training but they wud decide your performance incentive based on your performance in training. Suppose if u got internet stream and u r interested in open stream then i think u can swap with other ppl.but they don’t encourage it. U have to have convince the HR People to do so. Stream specific training requires a little more dedication on ur part. they teach u well and give u all resources like 24 hrs lab facilities and all, so its up to u how to make use of it. I know i sound clichéd but that’s how it is.
Exams in specific stream is of the same pattern as in generic stream but with negative marking but distribution of marks is different,30% on programming and 20% written.
Now the question comes which is the best specific stream which is worst if someone thinks of future and quality of work?
ASP.NET is in demand, mainframes least according to software engineers.
u need not to buy any book. Infosys has a fantastic library and whatever u may need u can get it from the library itself and one more thing, whatever comes for the exam comes from the course material provided by them so Material ko thik se rat lena.....

if u r from a non-IT background...u have a 3.5 months of training else 1.5 months.
first subject...CHSSC...(computer hardware n systems sw concepts) then C...then RDBMS...then u have your stream specific training...with OLEs (on-line exams)...
n u have to study for it from the champak (infy slang for their training material)....all OLE questions come straight from the champak n u have to mug that....u just don't need to go for any training before hand...becoz even if u know everything...it doesn't matter ...coz the champak is the bible...n thaz what u'll hafta know
all the best...n relax...the solution to all your fears lies in the holy champak.
The project allocation is totally depends upon INFY.if u have any choice or interest they can’t help u.Its totally depends on their business requirement. Enterprise Systems has highest market value...there are also many mainframes project with infy.so if u do c,java,vb etc before joining it wud not help in training as
1. What they will teach u is different
2. U doesn’t know which specific stream u get there. e.g. if u get open system then java,vb which u did before training wud not help same in the case with internet stream i.e. if u do c beforehand then it wud not help in internet stream. And nothing wud help if u get mainframes as it has COBOL programming.
The facilities at mysore are down to earth. they will provide u cycle to move around. Hostels wud be on twin sharing basis. So Chillax... and enjoy your rest of the days in full throttle...if still u r thinking of some pre joining preparation then….nobody can suggests u.do whatever u want but don’t think that it wud help in your training due to above mentioned facts.

I heard that training time is unusual i.e. we have to wake up early in the morning for YOGA then usual mundane things then training starts at 9 or 10 am. Upto 1 pm then break for lunch then 2-5 then 1 hour break then finally 6-8.
There are lots of best books in C, RDBMS, Java. but none of them will help you in OLE and also don’t have time to read extra material other than champak. Those course materials are sufficient. But you'll have to read them thoroughly.
But no book is there to match with their "syllabus". These are for self-learning, not to pass the OLE. Don’t get afraid, if you study the study-materials well, you' score a good mark.
Ask someone working in a good company about infy training, he will tell u Infy training is the best in India. My friend told infy training is the best and u will have a very bright future after 2 years. he also told me dimag se nikal de CAT, JMET just concentrate on your job in Infosys for 2 years and then change to some other company and then apply for some good Executive management program from good institute. Just go ahead and do good in infy.

Got into infy!!

The day was 21st & 22nd of march.........infosys came to st.peters. A day before, i was really bugged up and irritated......cuz of studyin r.s.aggarwaal (verbal & non verbal only)......those who have studied it noe well y. is soooo simple to solve te probs in it & tey have 100s of simple simple probs. so i dint prepare tht much for infy.

So in te mornin i went to st.peters.......was still in a irritated mood...was not at all intrested in getin in to infy.......And then ppt started, which got my spirits up a bit. the HR who took te ppt was pretty good. immediately after tht we were asked to go to our respective examination hall. there were roughly 1300 of us from 5 different colleges. I was a bit intimidated( Or shld i say scared)
looking at the crowd. AMS, Sastha, Sai Ram, JAYA (my coll) & St.Peters were the colleges participating in this campus drive.

We were asked to fill up some form.....we were asked to bring a passport size photo....which i completely forgot. thank god i had a stamp size photo of mine in ma purse. We filled the application form and started ritin the test. we were asked to rite verbal first.

I took some time to graze thrgh te paper 40 questions - 35 minutes....8 sets of 5 questions each..there were 2 comprehensions (5 ques for each comprehension)....sentence corrections...fill in te blanks (a phrse to be replaced by an appt phrase)....on te whole te test was pretty simple...i dint get to finsh te 2 comprehensions though...i randomly selected answrs for tem.

Next we were given Non-Verbal/Logical paper. 30 ques for which we were given 40 minutes. There were 6 sets of 5 questions each. The first two sets were really a cakewalk for me, questions related to venn diagram and logical. The data interpretation was a bit tough...we were given two bar graph one for sales and another for cost of 5 different products from the same company. Questions were like...which is the most profitable product.....what was the profit for product A, etc. Other set of question was form blood relation ( which was pretty ambigous....compared to those given in RS Aggarwal(easy)). Then syllogisms, which was damn easy. Experience from the english paper improved my time mgmt in this paper and was able to finish the paper before hand.

Having written my test, I got a fear tht i might cross the upper cut off. That did'nt happen and my name was shortlisted for the next round. We finished our tests by 1.30 and the results were anounced (which was scheduled to be anounced at 3.30) around 6.30. As you can see we were made to wait for more than 5 hours. I was obviously elated as i was not expecting it. 4 of my class mates also got through to second round. We were asked to assemble on 1.30 pm the next day for HR interview.

We reported there by 11.30 on the next afternoon and were eagerly waiting our turn. Then we realised that the HR have not yet arrived and were made to (guess what) WAIT!! We waited another 4 hours, finally the interviews started at 3.45. As we were waiting we got more and more tensed. My turn came by 4.30, as soon as my name was called I dont know what happened to me, I became damn exubarant. The HR was a lady dressed in a top and jean. She asked all the questions from my resume. I had mentioned a few points on my strengths, from which i was repeatedly questioned from. But surprisingly I came out with flying colors. The HR was so impressed tht after the interview she said tht she had a gr8 time talking with me. At tht instant, I knew tht I was selected . The formal list of selected candidates were anounced at around 7 pm.

Some of my frnds were not so fortunate. Some of them in their resumes mentioned their s/w profeceincy. From which they were questioned and were rejected for their wrong answers. So my friends, you gotta be through with your resume to clear the HR.

On the hole getting into INFY aint tht hard at all. You just need some prep, good communication skills and the right attitude to get through. From my college roughly 350 wrote the test, from which 56 were selected for the second round out of which 15 were filtered in the HR round. So 41 of my college guys n gals got placed in INFY. It really feels gr8 to be an infoscion and i hope that you too experience the same feeling at some point of your life. So long see you at INFY.

Reunion wit old buddies 12 D

It was an awesome time........it really really feels good to meet up wid ur old school buddies.......my case wasnt so different. The day started out in coffee day
...where 8 of us ordered 2 drinks. Then me, pauli, prashanth, vippin n sundar went to sachin ka dhaba (a local restaurant).....to have lunch...then to the evergreen ice cream parlour infront of our school Creamy Inn.

Its Afraan, Vipin, Prashanth n Kunal....n those r the two drinks tht we ordered.

Its me, vipin, sundar n prashanth........ striking a pose....... infront of our school!!

Jesus H. Christ.....Its been a long time.....

I know ...I know its been a long time...im kinda into 3rd yr....career inoslvency.......which i hope to be done with soon, and return to my nobel bloggin ways. to make up for the lag i've got series of articles comin up. To start with ..........i dun wanna go into the career crap...........do u??????reading my articles u could've come to conclusions....wat kinda guy iam n thins like tat.........well u must think tht i must be feelin like shit after all tht .......tht has happened to me...i must be really a fucked up guy................but its hard to stay mad when there is so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like .........................................im seeing it all at once, and its too much. My heart fills up like ballon............that's about to burst. And then .....I remember.....to relax, and not try to hold on to it. And then it flows through me like rain. And I cant feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life.

You have no idea what iam talking about...I'm sure. Don't worry........u will someday. And then suddenly it strikes you.....you have read the same thing..or have u heard it....somwhere....yes ......these are the final phrases said by Lester Burnham(Kevin Spacey) in American Beauty.
Pardon me ;). This phrase kinda epitomises my life.
